The Indian Agro & Recycled Paper Mills Association popularly known as IARPMA, the exclusive national body of paper mills based on Waste Paper (Recycled Fibre) and Agricultural residues such as biogases, wheat straw, rice straw, Jute, Sarkanda, Grasses, etc function as a catalytic agent for their growth, promotion and development. The Association came in to existence in 1987 at a historic meeting of the representatives off the non-wood based mills in India. During the year 1999, Indian Recycled Paper Mills Association merged with the IARPMA with an aim to bring all the paper mills who are manufacturing papers out of non-woody raw materials in India. Today, IARPMA is the only Paper Industry Association in India representing around 85 per cent of paper mills with a production range of around 70-75 per cent and controlling more than 70 per cent of Indian paper market by its members.
The members of IARPMA are the champions of protecting environment and manufacturing paper and board without cutting trees. IARPMA encouraging for planting more trees and also extending support for agro forestry as well as social forestry to protect our environment and also to create more employment in rural areas. This non-woody sector of Indian paper Industry is providing livelihood for more than 45 lakh people directly and many fold people indirectly in rural India.
IARPMA membership comprises of any individual paper mill, firm, paper mills under a co-operative society or other corporation engaged in the manufacturing of non-wood based Paper/Paperboard other than Straw board mill and other allied products by minimum 50% pulp made out of the Grass. Straw, biogases, Jute waste, Cotton Linters, Waste Paper and other allied products and is not having wood or bamboo pulping plant shall be eligible for membership of the Association.
